Charges may be made for the following:
The cost of materials, ingredients, equipment used in some areas of Technology and for Instrumental Tuition when this is available. When these charges are made the children have the right of ownership.
The 1988 Education reform Act acknowledges the right of parents to contribute voluntarily towards the costs of school activities. This may be for the cost of educational visits, which support the curriculum, or for the costs of specialised equipment and/or speakers visiting the school. If a voluntary contribution is requested no child from the class concerned will be excluded because of the inability or unwillingness of parents to contribute. However, if there were insufficient funds raised through voluntary contributions then the activity would be unlikely to take place.
The governors recognise the valuable contribution that additional activities can make towards the pupils’ education. The governors appreciate the considerable support that parents have given to their childre, in making voluntary contributions.
